Old Mentz Heritage Center Revised Bylaws March 11, 2026
At the time of our merger in 2024 of the Port Byron Lock 52 Historical Society and the Montezuma Historical Society, bylaws were submitted with our application for a new Charter through the New York State Education Department. Now that we’ve settled under our new charter and moved into our new home at 97 Main Street, the Bylaws need to be updated to better fit the structure of governing rules we need to follow now. An ad hoc committee was appointed in January 2026 to review and submit a new revised draft. At the March 11, 2026 Board of Trustee meeting the Board of Trustees voted to approve of the new draft and present it to our membership for a vote. Members will be receiving a ballot with the Spring 2026 Newsletter, and are being asked to vote on the Revised Draft.
If you are a member in could standing, a copy of the the proposed Revised Bylaws may be reviewed prior to your vote. Once you have reviewed them, please return the ballot postcard by April 30, 2026.
